Take a real or virtual tour of leaves turning on Lutsen Mountains
We’ve been working on a fun story about fall colors on the North Shore that we thought you might be interested in involving our clients Lutsen Mountains andVisit Cook County and their ad agency Giant Voices of Duluth.
Yesterday, Belinda Jensen of KARE TV included the story in her 10 p.m. weather report. On Saturday, KSTP ran the story, despite tough competition from the Ryder Cup. And last Friday, a reporter from Fox 21-TV rode the new gondola at Lutsen Mountains.
Tips for taking a trip up the North Shore
If you’re considering trying to catch the fall colors, here are some tips:
Last weekend lodging around Lutsen and Grand Marais was full, and this week is running just a little behind that level. The larger properties like Blue Fin and Caribou Highlands typically have more availability for the larger, more expensive properties. And the Gunflint Trail always has rooms available. So if visitors are willing to take the beautiful drive 25-50 miles up the Gunflint Trail (which originates in Grand Marais), they should be able to find a place to stay. And they can call the Visit Cook County Visitors Center for help: 218-387-2524. They are notified of last-minute cancellations.
The Lutsen Mountains Gondola will be open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. through Oct. 16; and Thursday thru Sunday, October 20 – 23. The schedule may vary due to weather. The rate to ride the gondola is as follows: adult (13+) $20 plus taxes and fees, children (6-12) $12 plus taxes and fees, senior (65+) $17 plus taxes and fees and tot (5 and under) free with a paid adult.
